NGNREGA - the start of the decline

"MGNREGA had pushed up rural incomes without commensurate increase in productivity." RBI Governor Subba Rao.

Congress won an election with their MGNREGA for the second term and they hope to do the same with the FSI for their third term.

MGNREGA has spent Trillions of Rupees (around $40Billion) over the last 8 years and there is no outcome of this. Show me one road, one pond, one infrastructure that it has built which has improved the life of the local people.

In the ancient times, the emperors could move the India massive poor to build the Taj Mahal, the Lal Quila, the GT road, and what not. These have lasted the generations and made the Empowers name famous. What will our politicians be remembered by ?

On the other hand the Employment scheme has brought the problem of labour to the industry. In a country where that was always short of electricity and skilled labour, the industry relied on cheap labour. Now this also become unavailable. Go to any city/Business today and they will tell you the biggest problem they face today is non-availability of labour. In a country of 133 Crores, how can this be ?
