Police reforms and AAP

Arvind Kejriwal and the AAP have been in 'Dharna' outside the Home minister’s house. The reason is that they want 3 police officers suspended. They have quoted various reasons such as suspend 3 and the rest will come to senses.

Also in the mind of the general public (Aam Admi),  I have no doubt the police is corrupt, they let unlawful activities occur, they are rude, without bride nothing works, harass local vendors etc.

I agree with AAP that the Delhi Police should be under the local elected state government. The Law and Order is under the state jurisdiction across the country and so it should be in Delhi. I completely support Arvind on this.

What I do not support is
a) Asking for suspension of 3 police officers who did not go arrest and barge into the homes just because the law minster verbally told them to. I think the police should and have to follow the law. Just because you have got a complaint, without a warrant they cannot enter someone’s house.
The law minister who is an IITian and a lawyer should know this. Imagine if they end up doing against every complaint they get; we will have a police state. Imagine if the police enter your house under suspicion or under some allegation of the local politician.
Also suspending them will not help raise the moral of the police. Instead it will become the same as other states where the police will listen to every whims and fancy of the elected party. This is not the right step.

b) Holding a 'Dharna'. This means that this particular area becomes so important that all other areas where the government can make things better gets side-lined. Holding the city to ransom is just not done.
The same AAP which wanted the police to focus on maintaining better law and order and not focus on VIPs, is now having a significant police force make sure that the central and the state government do not have a brawl.

c) Is the police the only answer? Does it show that that AAP want more physical power?
Has other parts of the government been fixed? Are all school teachers coming to school? Is the school mid-day meal proper? Is there any technology that you are bringing to improve quality?
What about transport? Are the roads all fixed? Is there any way to improve the traffic? Are the buses running on time? Can you get a NoC or a Driving license without paying a bribe? What can be done about the Delhi Metro?
Is your renewable solar energy policy out ? There was talk about audit for the Power companies ? What happened ? Is the meter non-tampered ?
What has been done for Dengue prevention ? Is the drains being cleaned up ?
There are so many things you can do to clean up the system other than just this.

Kejriwalji you are the CM. Have you tried to negotiate with the Central Government on this? Why was this not part of your 20 point agenda when you came to power?
For a student of Anna and Mahatma Gandhi you must realise that 'Laathi' or power does not work everywhere. Yes, it will work in case of sensationalism and television but only for some time.
Let us look for alternatives.
- File a case in Delhi Supreme court on why the local police is not under Delhi's jurisdiction.
- Do a referendum.
- What about Gandhigiri. Give citizens to give a flower to every policeman and Shinde Sahib.
- Hell! If you think a Dharna will help, do it on a Sunday so that you do not trouble thousands of Aam Admi who are trying to earn a honest living.
