Quitting is not an option.
“If the Jan Lokpal Bill is not passed then….I would quit as the Chief Minister of Delhi.”
“If power politics is not sorted out in Delhi, Kejriwal will quit his CM office and sit on a Dharna”
“If the police officials will not obey his orders, Delhi CM will quit from his primary duties and will stage protests.”
All these statement have been made by Delhi Arvind Kejriwal in fewer than 2 months of being the CM of Delhi.
I have had a lot of respect for Mr. Kejriwal and the fact that he was able to organize the India Against corruption movement. His political acumen is par excellence as he has able been able to tap the anger of the middle class against the established political system.
When he was a activist, I supported his call to Sheila Dixit to quit as she could not control the law and order situation especially among women in Delhi. I supported his call for her to quit over the CWG scams. I even supported his initial action to form a political party as I thought he would want to fight it from within. I wanted him to be bring in transparency to the system and not to resort to the castist and communal vote bank politics.
The fact that he got an golden oppertunity to prove his model in Delhi. To be the change. It also gave him a platform to experiment and remove the kinks in his implementation. As every engineer knows, that you need to make a prototype before you do mass production. Arvind from IIT should have this in his DNA.

But as a CM, in a position of power, I do not support his call to quit every time something does not work his way. That is a quitter or blackmailer mentality. Every role you have, will have constrains and you need to work within the constrains to give the best solution possible and do as much of good as possible.
He should now start appreciating the difficulty of the role Shelia Dixit had to do. With all the limitations of the Delhi CM, she still managed to get world class infrastructure in Delhi. Does that not make her a better administrator than Arvind Kejriwal.
I have been an entrepreneur and a manager in many companies. I have never quit when things were bad because I had the power to improve them. If I have been blessed with the foresight to see the change, then I have the duty to make it happen. I have vented out my frustrations of not being able to make the change as fast as I would have liked but I have tried my level best to work with the other stake holders to work on a middle ground.
Another thing I have learnt is that if you have got to a situation, where you need to threaten to quit, you well might quit, because even if the compromise has been reached, it will never be the same ever again even in best of situation.
Arvind Kejriwal may know politics but he does not understand simple administration. I would anytime hire a good administrator rather than a amazing political mind.
